The microphone is not working
iPhone: Open Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone and allow BirdTalk. If BirdTalk is not listed, reopen the app and tap Start Listening to trigger the permission request.
Mac: Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone, enable BirdTalk, then quit and reopen the app. Mac mini has no built-in microphone; use an external input or a Continuity Camera iPhone microphone.
Why can’t iPhone listen while locked?
BirdTalk treats iPhone as a foreground interaction tool. Keeping listening in the foreground avoids unnecessary background recording and battery use.
Why does a photo not give a health conclusion?
BirdTalk checks image quality, describes visible features affected by lighting and background, and compares with the same bird after seven usable photos. It does not output disease names from a photo. Contact an avian veterinarian if a change persists or appears with physical symptoms.
Do I need to log what my bird actually ate?
No. Enter the long-term food structure you offer: staple, approximate seed share, vegetable frequency, and supplement use. Results describe a dietary-pattern risk and one weekly action, not actual intake or a deficiency diagnosis.
Why does training move back a step?
Positive training depends on voluntary participation. Afraid moves back immediately; two Uninterested responses lower difficulty; Skip does not break progress. Do not use hunger, punishment, or forced handling.
How do I delete everything?
Tap the bird avatar, then open Privacy & Support → Delete All Local Data. This removes bird profiles, call-event metrics, photos, diet profiles, training progress, settings, and owner recordings. The developer cannot restore them.
Purchases and refunds
BirdTalk is available on the App Store. Apple handles payments, receipts, and refunds; visit Report a Problem to review purchases or request a refund.
Is this a medical or translation tool?
No. BirdTalk provides call-event records, visual descriptions, and general care guidance. It cannot translate calls word for word, diagnose disease, provide doses or treatment plans, or replace an avian veterinarian.
